Resolve your disputes, get paid by your debtors, and defeat your adversaries
Whether you are embroiled in a major business dispute, or “just” want your invoices paid in full and on time, your approach should be the same. That is, know yourself and know your counterpart.
Generally, people focus on what they want. They then project their wishes onto their counterpart. This inevitably ends in failure.
Simply use this template to achieve your objective/s, by focusing on what your counterpart wants -
1. The end of the financial year is fast approaching.
2. Your counterpart will likely want to reduce their taxable income. Therefore, they will often pay their unavoidable liabilities by 30 June 2023.
3. You want your counterpart to view your objective/s as unavoidable problem/s that they must solve.
4. To determine the importance of your objective/s to your counterpart, give your counterpart a reasonable amount of time to resolve or negotiate an agreement with you by 30 June 2023. Within your business that could mean resolving a partnership dispute, or external to your business that could mean your customer paying your invoice.
5. If your counterpart complies or respectfully responds quickly, they likely consider their relationship with you important. Accordingly, a gentler approach should be used to completion. Alternatively, an absence of a response, or hostility, likely reveals that your counterpart disregards you. Hence, an escalation of force may be appropriate.
Good luck, and best wishes for the forthcoming financial year.
